Craddocks Moss is a large block of lowland raised bog extending to approximately 19.05 hectares (47 acres). The land is a Site of Biological Importance (SBI) which offers conservation and environmental management opportunities with enhanced payments from an existing Higher Level Stewardship Scheme. The scheme emphasis being on the development of botanical diversity and maintenance of the water table.
A capital works programme is already underway which has been produced by Natural England and involves the management of water levels within the basin of the moss along with the management of scrub encroachment following the felling of woodland on the site in 2013.
The current income from the HLS scheme attributable to the moss is £3820 per annum. There will be an obligation on the purchaser to adhere to those condition which are contained in the agreement. This agreement was entered into in November 2010 and is set to run for 10 years.
This block of land is accessed from Heighley Lane via Craddocks Moss Farm.
